Choose your colour palette and overall aesthetic

Since our tiles are created from scratch, you can pick the kind of look you want.

  • Choose a glossy, matte, or crackled surface.

  •  Colour field tiles are available in white, antique white and a rainbow of bold or pastel colours.

  • We formulate our coloured overglazes by hand, allowing for a wide variety of hues.

  • Colour field tiles can be combined with the art

tiles from our catalogue.

  • We can create custom tiles from photos or drawings you send us. For example, we can paint tiles of your cat or dog, boat, house or car.

  •  Add a $25 design fee for each custom image we prepare.

2

Measure the space

  • Carefully measure the height and width of the space where you would like to add or replace tiles using inches or centimetres.

  • It is important to measure the space as accurately as possible.

  • Send us the measurements, along with photos of the space..

  • We will create a drawing, mapping out the size, shape and number of tiles required.

  •  The tiles are sized to fit your space, so little cutting is needed when they are installed.

  • Your tiles could be square or rectangular, up to a maximum of

5 1/2in X 5 1/2in (14cm X 14cm).

  •  The edges of handmade tiles have natural imperfections. We recommend using tile spacers that are a minimum of 3/16 in. (5mm).

We send you plans and a quote

  • Sample colour tiles are 2 1/2 in. by 2 1/2in. (6.5cm by 6.5cm). They cost $5 each. We will give you a credit for this cost when you order your backsplash.

  • Once we have discussed the options with you, we can send you a quote.

  • We charge per tile instead of by the square foot. Tile prices range from $18 to $50.

These test tiles represent our ongoing journey in refining our glazes and designs. We are dedicated to experimenting with glazing and painting techniques, ensuring that every piece we offer is of the highest quality.
Our designs are inspired by historical tiles from the Medieval period as well as 17th Century Portuguese, Spanish and Delft tiles. We also focus on the 19th Century Arts and Crafts period and the MCM designs of the 1950's/60's.

Every Tile is Custom-Made

We offer one of a kind art tiles for backsplashes and fireplace surrounds.

We begin the work of making tiles with our own clay. It is compressed to the correct thickness with our slab roller and tiles are cut bigger than the final size, allowing for clay shrinkage. They dry slowly to prevent warping and then go into the kiln to be bisque-fired for 14 hours. Once they are glazed, we use the Majolica technique to paint colour overglazes directly onto the unfired glaze. During the second firing  (glaze firing) the brush strokes and glaze meld together in the heat of the kiln to create a unified surface. We take pride in our traditional craft and innovative design, creating tiles that elevate the aesthetic of any space.

Art tiles can be combined with our colour-field tiles in a wide range of solid colours or whites and off-whites.
